The judge last evening surveyed the area on the orders of the Bombay High Court, which appointed him as Commissioner to look into the issue. The judge personally visited the area and spoke to shopkeepers and residents asking them their problems.
He even went to the watchtower in the jail premises to survey the area from the top. He will submit a report on his findings to the court on Monday.
The appointment was made following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by people living near the Arthur Road jail premises, where the trial is being conducted, objecting to partial closure of the road along the jail.
The judge has been directed to file a detailed report by April 27. The High Court will hear the matter on April 28.
