Two unidentified men allegedly groped the elderly woman, abducted her, forced her to drink, and then gang-raped her near Santacruz railway station
It seems no woman is safe anywhere in the city, as one more horrifying case of gang rape has surfaced. A 58-year-old woman was gang-raped by two men on Wednesday near Santacruz railway station.

On the night of the incident, the survivor took a train from Mahim to Goregaon, where she stays with her 25-year-old daughter. The survivor got down at Santacruz station at 10 pm, where two persons groped her. From there, the two unidentified men took her to a bus station near a jhunka-bhaakar centre (eatery) in Santacruz (East), where they allegedly forced her to drink alcohol. They then gang-raped her for an hour, and fled from the spot.
The survivor took an auto to her home where her daughter, who works with a private real estate agency, had been waiting. The woman also has a 28-year-old son, who is married and doesn’t live with them.
After her mother narrated the whole incident, the daughter took her to a private clinic, as she complained of pain and had some wounds. The survivor is still recuperating at the same clinic.
A FIR was registered at the Goregaon police station, and the case was then transferred to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Bandra, as the crime had occurred under their jurisdiction.
Despite having made several teams, and rounding up hawkers and drug addicts around the area, the Bandra GRP officials were unsuccessful in locating the accused.
According to authorities, there is one eyewitness who claims to have seen the survivor at Mahim. The police are trying to make a sketch of the suspects with the descriptions the survivor provided them with.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Pradeep Bijwe of the GRP said, “A case has been registered under sections 376(2)(g) (gang rape), 353 (kidnapping) and 323 (assault). We have started an intense search operation for the accused. Further investigations are on.”u00a0
