Interestingly, Dimple is in the process of putting together a biopic on her late father. "I want to keep dad's memory alive.
I'm in the process of making a documentary on his life. There will be interviews of his colleagues along with people in this generation who knew him."
THE LEGEND: Rajendra Kumar aka Jubilee Kumar has acted in more than a 100 films with 35 hits |
It's a 110-minute documentary. I will sift out what I need at the editing stage. I was planning to release it tomorrow on dad's 10th death anniversary, but unfortunately I couldn't.

It will be ready in three months." Incidentally, Dutt flew off to South Africa today to shoot for Anil Kapoor's No Problem a 40-day schedule.
Special footage
Dimple added that the biopic would be better than the coffee table books on superstars. "Ten years ago, when dad was critically ill with mylodysplacia he came to stay with me in Los Angeles.
He stayed for a year and led a full life till the age of 70.
At that time my husband Raju Patel had asked one of our friends Jagmohan Mundhra to sit with a camera and shoot him talking about his life and his huge body of work.
He did more than 100 films and was known as Jubilee Kumar for having given 35 hits in his career span. For eight hours, we sat and recorded his memories. That footage will be used in my biopic."
After her husband's death, Dimple wasn't in the frame of mind to do anything for a long time, but now the project is almost complete.
"People asked me to do a book on him, but this kind of footage where someone is talking about his life is rare. Dad was not a media savvy person,u00a0but a good human being.
The life of a young boy coming from a wealthy family in Pakistan who lost everything, only to become one of the biggest stars in the film industry, is an exceptional one."
The Dutt rivalry
Dimple then spoke about the special bond her dad shared with Sunil Dutt. "The so-called professional rivalry had disappeared during the last few years when their film careers ended.

Dad had even campaigned for Dutt saab during the elections and Dutt saab gave dad the nickname, High Command.u00a0
Whenever Dutt saab came to the US for charity work, he would spend time with dad, sometimes even cook, and look after him. I have some amazing memories of the strong bond they shared."
