Shipra Biswas, 2001 topper from SIES college with 96.83 per cent, went on to join IIM Ahmedabad and is currently employed in a private firm as a strategic consultant.
"Being a jack of all trades and a master of few is essential in today's corporate world, where one is required to think on the feet. Being bookish and getting good marks can fetch a good college placement but it's not the most defining moment in your life," points out Biswas.
'A stepping stone'
Merit list holder and Nagpur boy Kuntal Majumdar of Shivaji Science Junior College stood second in 2003 with 97.83 per cent.
"Being a topper opens doors of reputed colleges like BITS Pilani and IIM, which have excellent campus placements. But hard work continues, whether one opts for a career or higher education," says Majumdar, who is currently employed by an off-shore oil multinational.
