While Vyas was the collector of Mumbai, Phatak was the municipal commissioner, when the scam took place.
During the last hearing on March 12, the court had issued a couple of directives: firstly, demanding the formation of a High Powered Committee (HPC) among CBI, ED and Income Tax to probe benami transactions and secondly, it wanted to know whether the CBI had written to the state, asking it to take disciplinary action against Phatak and Vyas.
Satisfied with HPC's functioning, the court scheduled the next hearing for April 30. It also stated that it had complete faith in CBI and that their investigation is moving in the right direction.
