If you want to bring home an Indian masterpiece and also make the world a better place, Colours of Life is the exhibition to be at. Organised by the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) and the Cymroza Art Gallery, the collection includes work by 117 Indian artists at affordable prices. "Every one gets to contribute; artists donate a part of what they get for the painting and a part of the price buyers pay will also go to the association," says Piali Syam, the curator of the exhibition who also works for CPAA.
Prices go from Rs 20,000 to Rs 8 lakh. And within your reach are greats like Akbar Padamsee, Jogen Chowdhary and many others from all over India.
The money raised will mainly go to children suffering from cancer; according to the CPAA, over 14,000 children are affected by cancer in India every year.
Says Syam, "One of our main activities is also to fight with pharmaceutical companies in order to lower the price of drugs. That's the point of this exhibition: Affordable Art for Affordable Drugs."
The exhibition opens tomorrow and will be on till June 30 including Sunday at the Cymroza Art Gallery.
