Staff working at new airport terminal wants GVK to allot space for the Customs canteen, as the pricier food items at existing staff canteen is pinching their pockets
The presence of only one staff canteen with limited food items has irked airport workers at the new terminal T2. The employees are demanding that GVK officials allocate space at T2 for the setting up of the Customs canteen.

The Customs canteen at the old terminal was popular with the airport staff, as it used to dish out food at subsidised rates.
The non-existence of the Customs canteen has also deprived Customs officials, who have to now shell out additional money to fill their stomachs. “The rates in the staff canteen are costlier than our canteen. A cup of tea used to cost Rs 5 in our canteen, whereas it is Rs 12 in the staff canteen”, said a Customs official, on condition of anonymity.
“The food quality was good and, moreover, the reasonable prices suited our budget. In fact, GVK staff would also patronise the Customs canteen at the old terminal, giving the staff canteen a miss,” said an airport staff, on condition of anonymity. The current canteen at T2 is located at MLCP (Multi Level Car Parking) 4.
