The wall collapsed at around 2.30 pm, trapping the children underneath. "We rushed to the spot after a child came running to us, screaming that a wall had collapsed.

I had gone to fetch the ball and my brother was sitting near the wall. When I came back, I saw the bricks in the wall tumble. I ran. But the collapse took my brother away," said Shoaib Khan, about the incident.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Kala Chowki police station, and the police are investigating the matter.

Whose wall is it?
The residents allege the Mill is over 100 years old and belongs to RM Bhattad Builders.

"The mill is very old, and had weakened due to heavy rains. The collapse is the result of negligence on the part of the BMC," said Wasim Shaikh, a resident.

BR Bhattad of Bhattad Builders said, "We had handed over that piece of land (where the wall collapsed) to MHADA in April 2011.

While we regret the incident, we have no connection with that part of the land and it was MHADA's responsibility to prevent trespassing."
