The Bhoiwada court on Thursday convicted Manohar Suryagandh, a BMC employee, for driving a water tanker of the civic body under the influence of alcohol.
Suryagandh was arrested on Wednesday by the traffic police in Byculla in south Mumbai. "Suryagandh was stopped by two patrolling traffic constables and was smelling of alcohol and tested positive when the breath analysis test was conducted on him," deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) Harish Baijal said.
Suryagandh was produced in court on Thursday, which convicted him and suspended his driving license for five days. He added that the police would prepare a report of the incident and forward it to BMC authorities for further action.
