Kalse has been accused of renting the flat to the deceased, Ankit Jain, by breaching regulation.

According to MHADA rules, flats allotted by it can be rented or transferred only after five years of possession. Kalse was given the flat only two years ago.
However, Kalse maintains that Jain was not a tenant, but his friend's son, who was staying in the flat for the past one-and-a-half months.
"I had given the flat to Ankit and his wife as I know them personally. I was doing them a favour as the couple had to evacuate their previous home.

I was not even charging them, so the issue of rent is baseless, he added. But neighbours said that Kalse had rented the flat out.
MHADA VP Satish Gavai said, "We can't presume anything.
A thorough investigation will be carried out. Renting out a MHADA flat within five years of its allotment is illegal, but nobody is stopped from inviting guests. Hence, Kalse needs to be heard."
Meanwhile, R K Padmanabhan, chief vigilance officer, MHADA, said that notices will be sent out to 167 houses in the city, which the body says it has identified as having been occupied by illegal residents.
