The father of the child Mohammed Sarfaraz claims that his wife had delivered a baby boy on April 16. However, the BMC officials said that the parents have accepted that the baby girl was their own child.
The Jogeshwari-based couple who had alleged that their baby was swapped by the staff at civic run maternity home have accepted that the baby girl was their own child, Health Officer Jairaj Thanekar said.
"The father has told the hospital authorities that his wife had delivered a baby girl. And there was some misunderstanding at their end. I have told my doctors to communicate about this development to the police," he said.
Sarfaraz, the child's father said, his wife Reshma Bano had delivered a boy on April 16 at the Oshiwara Maternity Home.
The new born child was swapped with a baby girl, he said. However, the civic body claimed that it was a baby girl and not a boy as claimed by Sarfaraz. A DNA report is awaited which could establish the ground truth.
