Low-intensity explosion on Saturday at Agra private hospital, barely three km from Taj Mahal, leads to beefing up of security outside Mumbai's hospitals

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Agra Range) Assem Arun said that the explosion took place in the lobby of Jai Hospital, situated on a service lane of National Highway 2, barely 2.5 km away from the Taj Mahal, frequented by thousands of Indian and foreign tourists.

Security at the Taj Mahal and has been beefed up.
"It was a low-intensity crude bomb explosion. It appears the explosive was kept under a seat at the hospital's reception area," Uttar Pradesh's Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters in Lucknow.
"Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) have arrived at the site to gather more information about the nature of the explosion," he added.
"We will confirm the nature of the explosion on the basis of forensic reports," Inspector General of Police (Agra Zone) PK Tiwari said, refuting reports that the explosive was kept inside a tiffin recovered from the reception.
Hospital owner Dr Manvendra Singh sustained pellet injuries in the blast. A receptionist and two attendants were also injured.
Mumbai hospitals including KEM, Nair, and Sion have beefed up security. Dr Ravi Rannavre, dean at Nair Hospital said, "Our security is well prepared. At Nair Hospital we have CCTVs to monitor activities across the hospital area. There is no reason to panic."
Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajiv Jalota, in charge of hospitals told reporters, "In the wake of the recent attacks we have beefed up the security of all the civic hospitals. We are in the process of employing security personnel."
While authorities at the JJ Group of hospitals including, GT Hospital, St George, Cama & Albless Hospital said that their security is always at high vigil.
