A three-year-old boy died after he fell into a manhole at suburban Mira Road here, police said on Wednesday.

A three-year-old boy died after he fell into a manhole at suburban Mira Road here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place last night when the kid, Hrishikesh Gupta, was returning home with his mother and elder brother after visiting a doctor in the locality, they said.

Searches were conducted and firemen were summoned after a slipper of the toddler was found near the manhole, they said.

The boy was fished out dead, police said adding an offence of accidental death has been registered with the Navghar police at suburban Bhayander.
