The incensed VIP immediately called the police control room to report the incident. The control room relayed the information to the Bandra police who then arrested 27 bikers for rash driving under Section 279 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Said a police officer, "The boys are from good families. They are either college students, call centre employees, or employed in firms. We are checking if they were racing for fun or if they had laid bets."
The police claim that the youths who had come from all over the city had been racing at speeds of 80 to 100 kmph.
Added Senior Inspector Prakash George, Bandra police station, "We caught them to avoid accidents."
