The passengers on board who narrowly escaped death were Dilip Chavan (55) and Shripad Pathak (57), both employees of Apna Bazaar Co-op Limited. Also on board was the automobile driver Sakaram Jagtap (49).

Jagtap said, "We left Mumbai at 5.30 am. The car had been serviced, and all the tyres had been changed.

When we neared Vadkhal Road, Chavan sir asked me to halt for breakfast. Suddenly, the car skid on the road, and flipped twice. The car was moving at a speed of 85 km per hour. There were no bumps on the road."
The victims were rushed to the nearby Palave Hospital where they were given first-aid treatment.
They were then sent to KEM Hospital. Anil Gangar, chairman of Apna Bazaar Co-op Limited said, "The government had given us land to open a store.

As we were running losses, we decided to return the land to the government. Our employees were on their way to meet the government officer."
While Jagtap and Pathak were released, Chavan is being kept under observation for a day.
