About 40 workers, allegedly belonging to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, attacked a Christian prayer meeting in Nallasopara on Tuesday afternoon leaving at least four people injured, including women and children.

The attackers also broke the furniture of the Damodar Hall where the meeting was being held in Nallasopara (East).u00a0A large number of people had gathered for a prayer, an eyewitness said.
Shocked at the attack, people ran out of the hall without bothering to look after their handbags or footwear.
The complainant Arumugam Selvan, a resident of Lodha building in Nallasopara, alleged that the protestors were objecting to the prayer meet and were armed with iron rods and sticks. Selvan also assured of taking the police to the suspects' house.
The Nallasopara police have registered an offence against the suspects identified by Selvan under various Sections of IPC. Meanwhile,u00a0Dr Abraham Mathais has condemned the attack onu00a0Christians and has accusedu00a0VHP/Bajrang Dal behind theu00a0incident.u00a0
