At a park’s inauguration yesterday, Cong corporator Nayna Sheth Doshi said the Sena chief had taken credit that was due to her; in response, Uddhav Thackeray coolly asked his aides to escort her out
A Congress corporator from Matunga managed to take a dig at Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, even as she shared the stage with him, surrounded by hundreds of Shiv Sainiks. While her comments riled up the Sainiks, the commotion ended with senior party leaders escorting the corporator to her car in the middle of the function.

The remarks of Congress’s Nayna Sheth Doshi’s (circled) kicked up a commotion in the Sena-dominated crowd, but after her speech, she was simply escorted to her car
The incident occurred last evening, during the inauguration of the renovated park, Five Gardens, in Matunga. Nayna Sheth Doshi, invoking the memory of Sena founder Bal Thackeray, said to Uddhav, “When there were projects worth Rs 50-Rs 100 crore, Balasaheb used to inaugurate them.
For smaller projects, he used to ask who the corporator was and let them take the credit. I am the local corporator, and the credit was my due, but for this also you were called.” At the time, Sheth was the only Congress politician present. While her remark did not seem to go down well with the Sena, she continued with her speech. “I was not scared. I was raising my grievance.
If anyone had hit me, I wouldn’t have retaliated, instead I would have let them do what they wanted to do. I was only speaking my mind, and it doesn’t matter what would have been the result. I was ready for everything. I am not sacred of anyone,” Sheth told mid-day later.
Uddhav immediately took the microphone and explained that he had only gone to inaugurate the garden because it was meant for children. Uddhav simply asked two of his aides to escort her outside to her car. Senior leaders Trushna Vishwasrao and Sada Sarvankar led Sheth outside the garden before the function could end.
Several Sena members seemed upset that Sheth had got away with her audacity. Sheth, who went home following the incident, claimed that she had never asked for any help, but was still escorted out by the Sena.
