A corporator of Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi run by Hitendra Thakur was arrested by the Tulinj police for alleged kidnapping, wrongful confinement and rioting. According to the police the corporator and his two sons allegedly kidnapped a builder as he had refused to sell them a plot of land for which initially he had got into an agreement with them.

According to the police in 2010, the corporator, Sitaram Gupta of Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi of ward number 71, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation got into an agreement with Jagdish Dubhe to buy his plot for Rs 60 lakh’s he also paid Rs 20 lakh’s as advance for the said plot.
But after that did not pay any money to Dubhe who accordingly sent a notice through his lawyer for cancellation of the agreement to Gupta. Gupta who became infuriated about it on Friday sent his two sons Anil and Arvind. Both of them stopped the builder mid-way in Vasai when he en route to home from work.
They allegedly assaulted and put Dubhe in their Innova and took him to Gupta’s office, who after assaulting him threatened him to name all the properties he owned in his name or else he would kill all his family members.
“After Dubhe approached us we immediately registered an offence against Gupta, his two sons and three other unknown people. Accordingly we arrested the three who were on Saturday granted bail by a local court,” said Kailash Barve, police inspector of Tulinj police station.
The corporator and his sons were booked for 365 kidnapping, 342 Punishment for wrongful confinement, 504 Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and 506 Punishment for criminal intimidation of Indian Penal Code (IPC). “We are now searching for the other three people, who have fled,” said Barve.
