Ganesha joins party
They will also celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great gusto this year. "It's the first time we are bringing Lord Ganesh home and we wanted to celebrate this in a very special way.
We redecorated our home and decided that maybe we needed a new look too. It's really going to be a surprise for our guests.
We haven't told anyone yet," said an excited Sharmila, who first came across the idea on the Internet.
It's different
"It was something unique, something that we hadn't seen before. So we were excited about trying it out.
My son also liked it very much, but he said he'd wait to get his own until he had someone special," she said with a laugh.
The Khandkes are part of an increasingly popular trend.

"Most people visit us before a wedding or birthday to have a jewel put in. This particular trend is popular among younger clients, but there's no reason why someone older can't have it done either."
Just stick it on
The attachment of a tooth jewel is a non-invasive procedure where a small crystal in a shape and colour of the client's preference is attached on the incisor or canine tooth as an accessory.
The jewel is placed with the help of a strong bio-compatible adhesive that causes no damage to the enamel. A dentist can easlly remove the jewel.

It will not shift or come out with day-to-day activities like brushing or eating. The procedure can cost up to Rs 5,000.
