Three persons have been detained; cops are trying to find out if one of them stabbed the victim to death yesterday morning in Malad
Was it a jilted lover who brutally killed Seema Parab in Malad yesterday? Police have detained three persons and are trying to ascertain if one of them stabbed the 23-year-old woman five times with a knife while she was heading to work from her home at Kokani Pada, Pragati Nagar, Malad (E) around 9 am.

Though a local Samaritan tried to save her life, she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at Bhagwati Hospital. Seema was working as an accountant at a Borivli (W) beauty salon for the past year. 
According to police, the deceased was going to the beauty salon when an unidentified youth rushed towards her, holding a knife in one hand and twirling a chopper in the other.
Taking no chances
He then proceeded to stab Seema with the knife five timesu00a0-- once in the throat, once in the chest, and thrice in her abdomen. According to witnesses, he was brandishing the chopper to scare off bystanders. "I was going to work when I heard the woman scream 'Mummy, mujhe bachao'. I yelled and ran after the killer," said Javed Shaikh, a witness. As he gave chase, the youth dropped his chopper and disappeared into the crowd. Shaikh returned to the spot, where Seema was lying in a pool of blood, on the verge of death.
"I placed her in a rickshaw and took her to ST Hospital, Malad," Shaikh added. En route, Shaikh phoned the girl's father, but he was busy with work and didn't answer. Unfortunately, Shaikh says the hospital was ill-equipped to tend to Seema's grievous injuries and suggested she be transferred to Bhagwati. Here she was declared dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations by Kurar police have revealed that the murder could likely be due to unrequited love. Senior inspector Subhash Dattatray Dafle said, "We have detained three people. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered."
