Police sources said that Kandivli Police have a concrete lead in the double murder case and hence, brought in Chintan for questioning.
They added that Chintan could also have been detained as the cops might want to cross-examine him with the four accused, before their police custody ends today.
Unit 11 police officials have been calling Chintan for questioning every day since the bodies of his estranged wife, artist Hema Upadhyay, and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani were identified.
On December 17, Hema's brother Manish Hirani and cousin Deepak Prasad went to Kandivli police station to give their statement.
They said they suspected Chintan's hand in the murder since he would always look for ways to spite her.
