While three escaped with cuts and abrasions, one of them, a college student, suffered a knee injury and damage to her calf muscles
Mumbai, BKC car accident, Bandra-Kurla Complex, driver hits four women
Three college students and an employee of the National Stock Exchange were on their way to a seminar at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) when the four were hit by a car yesterday. All four of them were then rushed to Asian Heart Hospital, a stone’s throw from the accident spot.

The incident took place around 10.30 am when Narsee Monjee college students Shruti Vasani (19), Malika Parekh (18), Shivani Parekh (19) and Sangeeta Thikam, the NSE employee, were crossing the road near Tata Colony in BKC when a speeding car rammed into them.
The four were all heading for a seminar at the NSE building when the accident took place. After the accident, the four were rushed to Asian Heart Hospital and treated for minor injuries like cuts and abrasions. However, Shivani sustained a severe knee injury and also sustained injuries to her calf muscles. She also fractured one of her toes, said a doctor.

After her family reached the hospital, they transferred her to Raichura Nursing Home in Kandivli, where she underwent a surgery for her damaged left knee. Kamlesh Parekh, her relative, said she would need yet another surgery on Sunday to repair the ligament damage done to her knee.
The driver of the car later surrendered to the police. Identifiedas Mohammed Imran, he claimed that his car’s tyre burst, causing him to take a sharp turn, lose control and ram into the four. An inspector from Ghatkopar police station said, “He works as a driver for a family residing in Ghatkopar. He has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.”
Speaking to MiD DAY, Praful Vithalani, a relative of Shruti, said, “Luckily, they didn’t sustain any major injuries. However, Shruti has been complaining of severe knee pain, and we will get further tests done to determine whether she sustained any damage to her legs.”
