The 8 BMC corporators who won Assembly polls may chose to retain both seats as leaders like Chhagan Bhujbal, Narayan Rane have done in the past

The eight BMC corporators who won the Assembly polls may retain their seats in the civic body as others have

done in the past. "Chhagan Bhujbal was a corporator when he contested and won the Assembly polls in 1984, and Narayan Rane was the chairman of the BEST committee when he was elected an MLA in 1989.

Waikar (Shiv Sena), who won the polls from Jogeshwari (E) with a margin of 64,231 votes holds the chairmanship of the BMC Standing Committee, while Rajhans Singh, who won from Dindoshi with a margin of 44,152 votes, is the group leader of the Congress in the BMC.

Corporators Yogesh Sagar (BJP) and Mangesh Sangle (MNS) have also won from the Charkop and Vikhroli Assembly constituencies.u00a0

Ravindra Waikar says it is his party that will decide his course of action. "I will leave it for the party to decide. I can continue with the chairmanship if the party doesn't object. There is no rule in the BMC that says one can't continue with two posts simultaneously. Moreover, this has been done in past," Waikar said.u00a0
