Veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail, known for churning blockbuster films like 'Love Story' and 'Betaab' has been alleged by his neighbour - a 20 year old student for insulting her modesty and abusing her.

The complainant also alleges that the 64- year old filmmaker trespassed into her apartment on the pretext of complaining about filth created by feeding and sheltering a stray dog in the society premises.
As per the statement given to Bandra police (mid-day has a copy of the FIR) by the victim Thiya D’Souza, a resident of Vaz Bungalow, Turner Road, Bandra West matters turned worse when Rawail allegedly asked his driver to discreetly get rid of a stray dog from the society.
The student has already filed a written complaint about the same a week ago with the local police.
The CCTV footage of society compound reveal a dog following Rawail’s driver outside the premises after which he went missing.
According to Thiya, on the early morning of October 10, around 2.30am, Rawail barged into Thiya's apartment with his son on the pretext of throwing garbage outside her window that apparently had got accumulated in his air conditioner duct. The complainant and her two female roommates initially refused to open the door but as Rawail started banging the door continuously, they opened it to confront the veteran filmmaker. According to them, Rawail used derogatory language, abused Thiya with cuss words and also called her character-less for feeding and nursing stray dogs.
The Bandra Police are further investigating the case and have registered an First Information Report against Rawail and his son under sections 452 IPC trespassing, 509 IPC act intended to insult the modesty of a woman and 504 IPC intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace.
