GRP officials register case against Dombivli Station Master for refusing to help injured commuter

According to the officials, a long distance train hit two commuters, Parvez Siddiqui and Samir Lokhandwala, when the duo were trying to cross a railway track between Dombivli and Thakurli stations.

While Siddiqui died on the spot, Lokhandwala was reportedly injured.

However, when GRP officials contacted Laxman Das, the Station Master at Dombivli railway station, asking him to arrange for an ambulance and first aid, Das allegedly refused to help.

A GRP official on the condition of anonymity said, "Das flatly refused. He said arranging an ambulance was not his duty." The officials then had to use a handcart to escort to the injured to a hospital.

Confirming the news, Shivajirao Bagal, Senior Inspector, Dombivli GRP said, "We have registered an FIR against the Station Master. Our men (GRP officials) had to carry the injured man on a handcart."

Das has been booked under Sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 168 (public servant unlawfully engaging in trade) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 175 (endangering safety of any person traveling upon the railway) of the Indian Railway Act.

Das, however, claims he is being framed. "I am shocked. I am unaware about the FIR. The ambulance got late by only two minutes."

Lokhandwala is currently admitted at a civic run hospital in Dombivli, and is out of danger.
