MSRDC's Bandra-Dahisar elevated road corridor on SV Road and Link Road has the same alignment as that of MMRDA's Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro line
Through an apparent lack of planning or coordination, the MSRDC's proposed elevated Bandra-Dahisar road corridor on SV Road and Link Road may hit a roadblock as it clashes with the route of Metro line II on Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd (CBM), an MMRDA project. Further, the MMRDA might also have to demolish sections of skywalks on S V Road at Bandra (West), Santacruz (W) and Vile Parle (W) for the Metro corridor.

"The elevated road plan prepared by MSRDC will remain only on paper as it is extremely difficult to turn it into reality. When already an elevated Metro route from Charkop to Bandra is going to fall on SV Road and Link Road, how is the MSRDC going to construct an elevated corridor? In this case, the MSRDC will have to construct an elevated road over the Metro line, which seems to be impossible," said transport expert Jitendra Gupta.
According to MSRDC's plan, a 26-km long road will reduce the burden of traffic on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and the arterial SV Road. At present, it takes more than 90 minutes from Bandra to Dahisar on the WEH. The MSRDC is confident that once the elevated road is complete, motorists will be able to cover this distance in 30 minutes.
Confirming the same, an MSRDC official, requesting anonymity, said, "The proposed elevated road corridor will start at Bandra and will go up to Juhu aerodrome. It will then pass via a 2.2-km tunnel as it will not be easy to construct an elevated corridor in this area as Airport Authority of India won't give permission. Thereafter, the road will pass via Gulmohar Road up to Infinity Mall and from there it will go through the Link Road up to Dahisar."
Told about the overlap, MMRDA Joint Project Director Dilip Kawatkar responded, "Before planning or implementing the project, MSRDC should take in consideration the alignment of CBM Metro, which will start from Charkop and travel up to Mithibai College via Link Road and then take the SV Road near Nanavati hospital."
The Rs 5,000 crore proposed elevated road corridor project might also have to face opposition from the residents of Juhu and Bandra who have been opposing the elevated Metro. The MSRDC is planning to get funds for this project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNRUM) scheme. It is also in the process of appointing consultants for pre-bidding of the project.
