The CBI on Thursday informed the special court, that Chhota Rajan has provided his voice sample to them, in the murder case of mid-day journalist J Dey. The court has asked the CBI to file a progress report in the case, in the next hearing that is on March 14. Dey was shot dead in Powai by motor-cycle borne assailants on June 11, 2011, allegedly at the behest of Rajan. Rajan was allegedly peeved with him over some articles written by him.
The CBI had last month received permission from the special court to take the voice sample of Rajan. The CBI also informed court that as they don’t have required infrastructure they are facing problems in investigation, and a special Public Prosecutor has also not been appointed for the cases.
The Court noted that there are 68 cases against Rajan and that documents regarding six cases have been given to it. The court then asked the CBI to file a report on the progress of the case by March 14.
