Urging society to come forward and ensure that all children go to school, Tawde appealed to students to remain alert and bring to the notice of teachers if they see a child not getting formal education.
He was speaking while welcoming students in a private school in Dadar on the first day after summer vacation. Tawade also addressed and welcomed 480 municipal school students through a virtual classroom facility.
"I wanted to ensure that the first day of school for students becomes a happy affair and students become more eager to learn new things during the year. Thus, I welcomed students at Raja Shivaji school (in Dadar) today," Tawde told reporters here.
"Education is a child's right. Thus, society needs to come forward and ensure that no child is deprived of education."
An official from the Education Department said Tawde interacted with students, enquired about their feelings on the first day of school and what all did they do during their long summer vacation.
"Students appeared excited to see the education minister asking them questions and sharing his experience as a student," the official said
