A 25-year-old office clerk, who is absconding, was booked for stealing Rs 6 lakh from a lawyer's office. Police said he called the lawyer the next day and told her that he had stolen the money for his sister's wedding and would return it within a few months.
However, as the accused Zishan Ansari, 25, did not return the money, the 28-year-old lawyer filed a complaint with the Nayanagar police. According to the laywer's statement, in June, a person visited office to pay her Rs 6 lakh. Ansari, too, was in office. She told the police that she put the money in the drawer, and a few minutes later went to the washroom. However, when she returned, she notice that Ansari was missing and the money, too, had been stolen. She then tried calling Ansari, but his phone was switched off, the police said.
