The shop is located on the very busy Golibar road in Santacruz (E). Nirmal Nagar police has doubts over the incident and are investigating the matter from all possible angles.
On Sunday evening, at around 7.30 to 8.00 pm, four miscreants entered the Mithalal D Jewelery shop in Golibar. They then proceeded to pull down the shop's shutter and at knife point, tie up the shop owner and his employee.
As per the statement given by the owner, the robbers made them unconscious. By the time they came around, almost after 30 minutes later, they found the shop had been robbed.
But, Nirmal Nagar police aren't ready to believe the story since there seems to be some discrepancy in the stories of the owner and employee. During interrogation, the employee claimed that he he was present in the shop during the crime, but his employer was in the toilet on the shop's first floor.
When his employer came down he himself saw the robber and ask them to tight his hands and lags as well, which placing so much doubt on shop owner story.
When the cops interrogated the employee he said at the time of incident, only he was present in the shop while his employer was inside the toilet to perform nature call at first floor of the shop.
He further claimed that when his employer came down, he asked the robbers to tie him himself up.
The cops are now trying to take fingerprint from the knife and gloves, which they found at the crime scene, sources said.
