Anna Hazare support group The Bhrashtachari Virodhi Jan Andolan (TBVJA) has issued a letter to the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTPP), warning them against passing any film related to Anna Hazare in anyway.
The letter, worded in Marathi, clearly suggests that the organisation will not allow any film or TV serial to have Main Anna Hazare or Mee Anna Hazare in the title. The group will also not allow any film or serial to have a character inspired by or named after Hazare.
Allauddin Shaikh, the Maharashtra Secretary of TBVJA said the letter has been issued to prevent any misrepresentation of the mass leader.
Vikas Mohan, the Vice President of the producer's association, confirmed having received the letter last week.
Ironically, a member of the organisation, Jayprakash Bhande, is himself making a film on Hazare.
Defending Bhande's film, Shaikh said, "We are sureu00a0 that Bhande, having been an active part of Hazare's movement, will be able to represent him well. Also, the profits of his films will go to some social cause."
What happens to Prakash Jha's plans of making a film based on Anna Hazare's life, with Amitabh Bachchan playing the Gandhian, is now the question.
