According to reports, a white Maruti Swift Dzire, a golden Toyota Innova and a black and yellow taxi, were involved in the accident that took place around 9:30 am at Jijamata Nagar, a senior police officer said.
Three people, including the taxi driver, were killed on the spot, he said. Two of the deceased were identified as Jaswant (40) and Vijay (45), the officer said, adding that the two injured have been hospitalised.
Apparently, the Innova driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the taxi. After this, the vehicle toppled, and the Dzire crashed into it.
Following the dreaded accident, traffic towards CST on the Eastern Freeway came to a halt.
