Actor Vishal Thakkar, who was booked on charges of allegedly raping a television actress several times on pretext of marriage, was arrested by the Charkop police early today morning, at around 4 am

Actor Vishal Thakkar, who was booked on charges of allegedly raping a television actress several times on pretext of marriage, was arrested by the Charkop police early today morning, at around 4 am.


Thakkar was held from his residence in Charkop and will be produce before the court in the afternoon at Borivali.

On Saturday, a 26-year-old television actress lodged an FIR against Thakkar, alleging that the accused raped her in his house and beat her up badly over petty issues. Both were close friends, and were residing in the same locality. They were in a live-in relationship from the last few months.

In her complaint, the actress stated that Thakkar used to abuse her in front of every one, and that fed up of his behaviour, she left the house where they both were residing together. She then stayed at her college residence, where Vishal kept visiting and threatening her.

Thakkar has played bit roles in films like ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, 'Tango Charlie' and 'Chandni Bar'. On the small screen, he has featured in television shows like 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', 'Geet Hui Sabse Parayi', 'Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil' and 'Crime Patrol'.
