40-year-old Ramshri Mohammad Arya married Kaalika (42), who was earlier a man, Samson James, after the latter underwent a sex change surgery. The couple married as per Hindu rituals and moved to Nalasopara in 2010, Additional Superintendent of Police, Palghar, Yogesh Kumar said.
According to complaint lodged by Kaalika in April this year, they were subjected to verbal abuse by their neighbours and were often mocked and scorned at. The couple was also bullied by locals who called them 'eunuchs'.
After the constant 'mental torture', which escalated in last one year, the woman approached a local NGO and a complaint was lodged with Tulij police station, the ASP said. So far no FIR has been lodged in the matter.
