CEAT's initiative Swayam, on Thursday felicitated 35 underprivileged women by professionally training motor driving, with an aim to make them financially independent.

I have completed my 12th std and have passion for driving hence I chose it as my career. Initially I took time to learn all the required skills but all that I have learned has built confidence in me, said Akshita Neele, who graduated as a motor driver.
These trained women drivers are placed with many driving firms and have many career options such as Taxi service, school bus and also patient care cum driver. They have also been trained in allied skills like self-defense, basic spoken English, grooming, first aid, defensive driving skills.
With the steady rise in molestation and rape cases, this initiative will provide a safer transport solution for women which is the need of the hour! Women being driven by women will certainly increase safety all around, said Snehal Ambekar, Mayor of Mumbai.
