On Friday, seven Youth Congress leaders met Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) (law and order) Rajnish Seth to reiterate their demand for the dismissal of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anil Mahabole and the withdrawal of the First Information Report (FIR) lodged against them at the Azad Maidan police station.

This, after party workers were allegedly lathi charged on Mahabole's orders last month for taking out a morcha against the detainment of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh. They were marching from their Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) office to Azad Maidan, reportedly shouting 'Mayawati Murdabad' andu00a0 'Mayawati Hai, Hai'.

Apparently, this irked the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers at the BSP office that is located opposite MRCC office. The BSP workers reached the spot and shouted similar slogans against the Gandhi scion. While the two parties were embroiled in an argument, Mahabole allegedly ordered his contingent to lathi charge the Congress workers, and arrest 12 congress workers.

The seven-member delegation told Seth that they wanted Mahabole to be dismissed, and wanted the FIR registered at Azad Maidan Police station to be withdrawn. Seth confirmed the meeting.
