Mumbai Crime: 15-year-old boy rapes 5-year-old neighbour

In yet another incident of a sexual assault on a minor in Malad, a 15-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping his five-year-old neighbour.

The incident took place in Kurar Village, Malad (E) on Wednesday, when the girl was playing outside her house, while her mother was busy with household chores. While playing, the girl accidentally went into the accused’s house, where he was alone. Taking advantage of the situation, he raped her.

The survivor was bleeding profusely from her private parts. Upon seeing this, the accused fled from the spot. The girl — in a bleeding state — ran back to her house and told her mother about the attack.

The mother immediately went looking for the boy and also informed the neighbours, who launched a manhunt for him. When he was found, the locals thrashed him before handing him over to the police.

The girl was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli (W), escorted by a lady police constable. The hospital medically examined both the minors and the girl was found to have sustained internal injuries.

An FIR was registered under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act. Yesterday, the accused was produced before a juvenile court, which sent him to the Dongri correction home.

This incident follows a recent spate of similar crimes in Malad. Just last week, a 23-year-old man had also been arrested by the Kurar police for allegedly sodomising an 8-year-old boy.
