Decomposed bodies of four members of a family were found at an apartment in Taloja on Saturday morning. According to primary investigations conducted by the cops, the family had shifted to Navi Mumbai five months ago from New Delhi. The police indicated that the 35-year-old man killed his two children, wife and then committed suicide. Since the bodies have been found after a month, the police were surprised that the neighbours didn't notice a foul smell.

On February 22, the Navi Mumbai Control room received a call about the bodies being found in the flat. Senior Inspector Kashinath Chavhan rushed to the spot with his team. During investigations it was found that, Rajesh Bhardwaj, the owner of the flat had been trying to get in touch with tenant of the flat, Nitesh Upadhyay, since January. After not getting a response even in February, Bhardwaj on Saturday morning went to the flat. He knocked on the door but when nobody responded, Bhardwaj got anxious. He informed the secretary of the building and in his presence, opened the door with a spare key. He found three bodies lying on floor and Upadhyay hanging from the ceiling.

Cops recovered the bodies of Nitesh, 35, his wife Babli,30, and daughter, 8, and a son, 7. "We suspect Nitesh first strangled his family and then committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan with the help of sari. We have found two suicide notes, one inside the bedroom and one in the hall."

"According to primary information, Nitesh was into online trading and was a resident of New Delhi. He had shifted in September 2019," said an officer from Taloja police station. Kashinath Chavhan, senior inspector, said that a murder case has been filed.
