The Powai police on Thursday arrested a 43-year-old for allegedly stalking and abusing a 26-year-old doctor who works at a hospital in Powai.

According to the police, the accused's mother was admitted to the hospital between October 5 and 9. He used to visit his mother regularly and when the doctor came for check-ups, the accused would come close to her and make obscene gestures at her, the police said.
"The doctor said the accused tried talking to her while she was on her way home, followed her and also offered her a lift. She added that on the day his mother was discharged, the accused came to her and made obscene gestures," a police officer from Powai police station said.
The doctor then filed a complaint with the police and the accused was booked under section 354 (d) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police said he was produced in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
