The extent to which the Sheena Bora murder mystery has engulfed conversation is beyond imagination. At least, that’s what this diarist felt after attending a wedding mass at one of Mumbai’s parishes recently.

Much to her surprise, the main celebrant mentioned the virtues of being in a committed relationship and avoiding the vices of money and control over luxuries during the sermon.
The bride and groom were all ears to the pearls of wisdom that were shared during their big day, even as many in congregation could be seen exchanging glances at each other.
One elderly gent was overheard telling his wife, “It’s good that the priest is telling this to them from now itself...can’t say what this generation is capable of!”
Sons of the soil
In a reverse of recent news, a low cost carrier damaged a very hulky, speeding SUV, what looked like irreparably, from the front. This happened when this diarist was commuting on a BEST bus, and the jingling monolith perhaps twitched its back a bit or the SUV nosedived at its rear.
The conductor dismissed the driver as drunk, who clearly seemed so, and when the allegedly drunk man protested, he disclosed his identity as a son of the soil ,and hollered for the bus to go on. But a little later, the mangled SUV caught up, and the conductor was asked to stop.
After all, the allegedly drunk man had declared his identity as a son of the soil too. They whose identity did not matter eventually got down after waiting for a while and not being able to follow the fight properly.
If we were in an ideal world
Recently, we got to know of the news that footwear and accessories brand Clarks has collaborated with London’s Victoria and Albert Museum to create with a range of footwear for men, women and children.
We couldn’t help but remember the incident when designer Anamika Khanna’s fashion show, which was scheduled to be held at Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum got cancelled at the last moment due to political backlash.
How we wish that such stylish collaborations, where both the parties benefit, would be a common affair in our part of the world as well. Anyone for Paithanis by the museum?
