A 4-year-old boy died after getting trapped in a septic tank outside a public toilet at Prem Nagar in Goregaon West on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Adarsh Kevat. He fell into the tank while playing with his friends near it around 3.45 pm.

Locals had informed BMC about the tank needing repairs
Kevat was a resident of the Prem Nagar chawl. After he fell into the tank, his friends alerted his family members, but he had almost drowned by the time they reached. Later he was taken to the Siddharth Nagar Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Residents of the locality alleged the tank was in a dilapidated condition from the last few months. It had burst last month due to accumulation of gas, injuring one. It had been kept open since then. The locals also informed the BMC that the tank was in need of repairs, but claim their pleas fell on deaf ears.
The Goregaon police have registered an Accidental Death Report on the basis of primary information. Kevat’s body has been sent for post mortem at Sidhharth Hospital.
