A 24-year-old eunuch was arrested by the Malwani police yesterday, after she stabbed her lover at her Malad (West) residence. She had taken him to the hospital, where she told authorities that he had been attacked by some goons instead.

The accused has been identified as Sapna Naidu, who resides in a room at Malwani (Gate number 7). She and the victim, Vicky Reddy, both hail from the same village in Andhra Pradesh, and were in a live-in relationship.

On Thursday, when she returned home from a shopping trip, she found him getting intimate with another girl. Enraged, she attacked him with a chopper, stabbing him in the back, on the face and head and several other points.

Later, she took her lover to a nearby private hospital and had him admitted, all the while telling the authorities that some men had attacked him when he was walking alone on the road. She even told them that his assailants had decamped with his valuables after the attack.

“After the attack, the eunuch cleverly admitted Reddy to the hospital without informing the police, and then lied when someone told her that she would be arrested if she told the police that she had attacked him. Then, we got a call from the hospital saying someone was admitted with multiple injuries,” a police official said.

“When we reached the hospital, the eunuch told us that some strangers had attacked her lover. But, we were suspicious about her statement, and so, we asked her to show us the spot where incident took place. When we reached there, we did not find a single drop of blood. Later, we asked her to take us to her room, and were shocked to see bloodstains inside the room,” the official added.

On interrogation, Naidu narrated the whole incident to the police, who then booked her under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and other sections of the IPC. Police said the truth was revealed because of the officers who visited the crime scene and asked to see Naidu’s room later. According to cops, Reddy used to work as a painter in Andhra Pradesh, and would occasionally return to Malwani to visit Sapna.
