Mumbai crime: Man held for raping minor over 6 months

The NM Joshi Marg police have arrested a man named Pappu Shubhrao Kale for raping his friend’s minor daughter over the past six months. The 32-year-old was arrested last week after the nine-year-old girl narrated her ordeal to her maternal aunt.

A few years ago, the girl lost her father and, in 2012, her mother got into a relationship with Kale. Six months ago, the girl’s mother passed away and Kale took her to his Mahim residence.

An officer from NM Joshi Marg Police station said, “Kale began abusing the girl after taking her home. She revealed that he raped her four times over six months.”

Recently, the girl’s maternal aunt took her to her home in Agripada. After a few days, when Kale arrived at the aunt’s place to take the girl back to Mahim, she vehemently insisted that she did not want to go back.

The officer added, “The more the child refused, the more Kale began forcing her to accompany him. The aunt found Kale’s behaviour suspicious and gently asked the girl about the reason for her refusal. The girl told her about the sexual assaults.”

The girl’s family then filed a report at Agripada police station. However, since the abuse also took place at the girl’s erstwhile residence, which falls within the jurisdiction of NM Joshi Marg police station, the case was
transferred there.

Kale has been booked under Sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 4, 6 and 12 of Children Protection Act.
