Mumbai witnessed its coldest winter in years on Wednesday night, when temperatures dipped to about 11.6°C.

The city usually experiences about 17°C temperature during December. This was about 6 degrees below normal.

Santacruz recorded a minimum of 11.4°C whereas Colaba recorded 17°C.
Though the Metereological Department is yet to have an update on today morning's maximum temperature, yesterday's maximum temperature was recorded to be 28.3°C in Santacruz and 17°C in Colaba.
The lowest recorded minimum temperatures for the month of December was 12°C on December 15 last year.
According to weather department officials, minimum and maximum temperature levels will continue below normal for next 24 hours.
"The city will continue to get cool breezes for another one or two days, due to stronger daytime winds," said an IMD official. Humidity in Santacruz was recorded to be 42 per cent whereas in Colaba it was recorded to be 56 per cent.
Cold and dry northwesterly winds from Pakistan have resulted in a significant drop in temperatures.
This is the second lowest minimum temperatures recorded for December since 2004.
As Mumbai shivered at 11 degrees, Mahabaleswhar recorded a temparature of 14°C.
The maximum temperature in December, which usually hovers around 24°C in Mahabaleshwar has risen five degrees above normal this year. The minimum temperature which is usually 13°C was at least 17°C since the past week.
