Mumbai shooting: Builder's employee shot at in Malad

A contractor working for a real estate developer was shot at by an unknown assailant in north Mumbai's Malad area on Friday night leaving him battling for his life

A contractor working for a real estate developer was shot at by unknown assailant in north Mumbai's Malad area on Friday night leaving him battling for his life.


Sources in the police confirmed to mid-ay that the developer had received extortion calls and the firing incident, which took place in the Shivaji Nagar locality near Ramesh Hotel in Malad east, was a fall out.



The incident took place at around 9 pm after the assailant reached an under-construction site of the builder and fired a round at the contractor identified as Turkeshwar Singh. The bullet hit Turkeshwar in the stomach. At the time of going to press, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 12, M Ramkumar, ACP and senior inspector of Kurar were on the spot.

According to police sources, the assailant dropped an envelope after the shooting. The envelope contained an extortion letter for the builder. The police, though, haven't disclosed any details from the letter.

The police were currently searching for eye witnesses. The police has found one eye witness, who rvealed that the accused ran off from the spot after the shooting. Police is looking for CCTV camera footage in the vicinity to identify the accused.

While confirming the incident, DCP Ramkumar added that the injured had been admitted to Kandivali west based Shatabdi Hospital and his condition was out of danger.
