In an attempt to give more teeth to citizen activism, NGO Praja foundation on Monday launched a unique website, http://www.praja.org/, to monitor the work done by elected representatives for their constituents and also provide a platform for citizens to make their voices heard.

"The society is going bigger and not all the people are participating as during the voting day people do not come out to vote because of which governance is deteriorating, with the help of this website we are targeting middle class and the kids of upper class to change this trend," said BG Deshmukh, former cabinet secretary and president of Praja, an NGO.

The website will be updated every four months and will display the development work taking place in each ward in key areas such as education, health, civic issues and crime. It will also display profile of each MLA and MP.

"Everyone will be able to know the attendance of councillors in forums such as Standing Committee, House meets etc. The questions asked by them and also how they have spend the money allocated to them," said Nitai Mehta, founder trustee of Praja foundation. The foundation has collected the detailed information through the Right to Information Act.
