The overhead electric wire snapped near the Santacruz railway station around 11.40 am on the fast train track for south bound trains, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said.
Frightened by the wire snapping, five persons had jumped from the train, they said. One of them was killed and four persons were injured. The injured were taken to the Cooper Hospital, GRP officials said.
Services on the fast track of the Western Railways was disrupted and efforts were still on to restore services on the line, they said. South bound fast train services were diverted on the slow track while efforts were made to restore services.
