Intelligence reports available with MiD DAY indicate that the Lashkar-e-taiba is planning terror strikes on the western seafront.

The report also states that jehadi groups plan to target prominent industrial installations and especially places frequented by foreigners.

Several ports and iconic structures are also on the hit list.

Following the report, police commissioner D Sivanandhan met more than 40 consul generals in the city to update them about the security arrangements.

Sivanandhan told MiD DAY that a series of such meetings are likely to take place to beef up security arrangements.

According to sources, the meeting, also attended by four officers from the Crime Branch, helped the foreign dignitaries get rid of their apprehensions.

The police said the consul generals are willing to offer help.

The police had received support from several foreign agencies, including the FBI, after the terror attacks in the city last year.
