The court tried to explain to him that since the legal systems in Pakistan and India differed, this would not be a viable option. Qasab, however, reteirated his plea, asking the court to try again.
The court then said that another request for Pakistani legal representation would be made through diplomatic means.
The court has now requested the president of Mumbai Bar Association to be present at the proceedings on Thursday as they will consider a member from the association to represent Qasab.
According to sources, the court felt that there were no more senior lawyers associated with the Maharashtra Legal Aid body who would be fit to represent Qasab.
