Rane's remarks on 26/11: Chidambaram says will ask police

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday denied knowledge of Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane's allegations that some state politicians provided help to terrorists in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

After being denied the chief ministerial chair following Vilasrao Deshmukh's resignation, Rane had on December 6 alleged that some state politicians aided the terrorists and he was aware of their identity.

Rane, however, did not disclose their names so far. Asked why Rane's statement has not been recorded yet, Chidambaram said at a press conference here, "I have not read the (Rane's) statement. I had discussions with DGP and others...Nobody mentioned it to me."

Chidambaram said he would ask police for their views on this, but he could not say anything as of now.
